2 days ｜ Indigenous tour from Taichung: Chashan Community & alishan

This is NOT a tour, this is a real experience inside the indigenous community in Taiwan. You will travel along with expert guides authorized and recognized inside the indigenous tribes in Taiwan. You will be part of the community and interact with the locals during the daily activities. Real experiences made easy.

Day 1

Taichung - Chashan Community

► 09.00 Pick-up at Taichung HSR station Exit #2 at 9:00 am. or hotel.
► Drive to the Chashan Community (an indigenous Tsou and Bunun community) in the southern part of the Alishan National Scenic Area.
► 12:30 pm Lunch in the community (Set meal based on local ingredients)
► Afternoon: Tour around the community with a local guide including traditional
► Hunting practices;
► Dinner: Indigenous cuisine meal
► Evening: Nighttime ecology tour (ending around 7:30 pm).

Day 2

Alishan National Park area - Taichung

► Breakfast;
► At 9:30 am visit a nearby river for swimming and enjoying nature (prepare a towel and change of clothes)
► Lunch ( TBD )
► After lunch, explore more of the southern part of the Alishan National Scenic Area on our own, returning to Taichung by 6:00 pm

Before deciding to explore this kind of travel, please read:

► Some of the accommodations are local, simple and basic B&B. If you are expecting hotels with facilities, this kind of experience is not for you. There are not many hotels located in indigenous and rural areas. In these areas, accommodation will mostly be in family-run guesthouses. In other areas, we can provide also 4* and 5* hotels on request (Taroko, Alishan, Sun Moon Lake).

► These tours are not synonyms of “cheap”; the price we are proposing involves many efforts to be made in advance, during and after your trip.

►You will need to bring along enough New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) in cash, as credit cards are rarely accepted and there are very few ATMs or banks.

► Basic medical care and first aid is usually available but there is rarely a pharmacy. So, bring along an ample supply of all necessary prescription and over-the-counter medication.

► Familiar food can be difficult to find and very local food can be sometimes served, please be ready to accept different/unknown flavors and if you need to refuse, be polite while doing it.

► Taking photos is not a problem in most of the cases, but respect the privacy.

► Taiwan’s indigenous tribes have had contact with the outside world and mainstream society for a long time. Even in their villages, they mostly live in modern houses and dress in modern clothing.

Transportation from Taichung;
Accommodation for one night in Only on This Mountain Guesthouse (in the Chashan Community)
Professional Guide and driver expenses ( overnight, meals, fuel,. parking, ETC … )

Visits and activities as mentioned in the above itinerary.

To confirm the reservation a deposit of 30% is required, final payment has to be done at least one week before the tour starts.

This tour is made for those who like to spend a weekend dive in nature. It includes an English speaking driver guide, private car or van ( 8 hours a day ), accommodation double/twin room 1 breakfast and 1 dinner ( only with 4* hotel ) and travel insurance.
This tour starts from Taichung or Chiayi HSR Train Station.
This tour is recommended for those who would like to explore Sun Moon lake area; you can choose from a variety of activities or simply enjoy the tranquility of the lake, strolling around and eating some local typical food.
